Singapore, the debut Nerd Nite was an instant sold out so here’s #2!!!

Three talks. One spot. Zero chill. All nerd.

After popping up in more than 100 cities around the world, Nerd Nite will be staying in Singapore (for awhile).

Part science, part storytelling, part pub night, Nerd Nite is where passionate people take the stage to share the topics they can’t stop thinking about. Every speaker gets 20 minutes to dive into their favourite rabbit hole, whether that’s science, history, design, psychology, art, obscure hobbies, or something wonderfully unexpected.

Just curious people, fascinating talks, and a room full of strangers who enjoy learning something new.

Arrive early, grab a drink, and kick off the evening with a live quiz for a chance to win a prize before the talks begin.

Whether you’ve been to a Nerd Nite overseas or this is your first time hearing about it, there’s never been a better time to embrace your curiosity.

Be there. Be Square.

Dhawina Jarcqueaz

The Social Glue Nobody Gets Credit For

Description

Ever wonder why some communities seem to magically happen while others quietly disappear?

Someone created the group chat. Someone picked the date. Someone sent three reminders, introduced the quiet person, kept the conversation going, and stopped everyone from ghosting each other.

From workplace communities to friendships, hobbies and everything in between, Dhawina explores the invisible social glue behind belonging, and why your supposedly “organic” community might actually be one unpaid project manager away from collapse.

Bio

Dhawina is an executive who builds communities at work, a mother of two, an MBA candidate, and an enthusiastic amateur at both tennis and chess.

Between professional communities, large-scale events, motherhood, hobbies, friendships and social circles, she’s developed a mildly unhealthy fascination with what actually makes people show up, stay connected, and belong.

Kai

How Did a Corporate Leo End Up in a War Zone?

Description

What does it actually mean to be a Leo; beyond being dramatic, loving attention, and allegedly having main-character energy?

Kai takes a playful dive into Leo season, astrology, and the art of taking your star sign just seriously enough to make questionable life choices. From the moments that make you go “wait… this actually happened?” to details that don’t make it into the news, this is a first-hand look at what it’s like to find yourself somewhere most people would never think to visit.

Part travel story, part personal field report, and part investigation into how a perfectly ordinary corporate boy ended up somewhere decidedly less ordinary. And yes, there were two euro summers involved too.

Bio

Kai is a corporate professional, Leo (obviously), and amateur anthropologist of his own life. He has an enduring curiosity about people, places, and the strange logic behind the decisions we make. When he’s not at work, he’s usually travelling, learning something new, or turning an otherwise normal experience into a story worth telling.

Shane

ผี Thai Horror: Cultural Identity through Film Posters

Description

Back by popular demand, Shane returns for a deep dive into Thai Horror.

Better yet, he’ll be bringing rare original cinema posters from his personal collection, giving you the chance to see works from the 1970s to the present up close. Several of these pieces have made their way from rural Thailand and will be shown to the public for the first time. Together, we will explore the evolution of Thai horror cinema through its film posters, tracing how visual culture, folklore and storytelling have shaped society across space and time.

For Shane, more than advertisements, film posters are cultural artefacts that preserve the fears, fantasies, and visual imagination of the society that produced it.

Bio

Shane holds a Master’s in War Studies from King’s College London and has spent years collecting original film posters from around the world. His passion sits at the intersection of film history, design, and storytelling, uncovering the surprising stories hiding behind some of cinema’s most iconic artwork.

Then settle in for three talks that’ll leave you saying, “Huh… I never knew that.”

You don’t need to be an expert. Just come curious.

Be there. Be square.
